Has anyone ever spliced in a new connector that goes from the car side of the wiring harness to the Oxygen sensor?
Seems that mine is broken now (assume was pulled too hard to try to get it to fit on the new SSI exhaust) and now I need to splice a new one on. I have gotten one off of a wrecked cars harness and know that its a two part wire, with a shielded outer and normal inner core. Just how much fun is this going to be? Its not real easy to get to in the first place and will have to be soldered on to keep the resistance close to being correct. My dealer wants an hour labor to do it, so I thought I might give it a try this weekend... Ideas? Anyone ever done this? TIA, Joe |

The O2 sensor comes with that wire (and the rubber "stopper")- just get a new one and plug it in.

Carnut,
I am talking about the wiring that comes out of the car that plugs into the harness on the Oxy sensor. The plug coming FROM the body harness is the one that is bad... can buy that one, its only $5-600 bux and the rest of the motor compartment wiring harness... now you see why I am wanting to splice a new plug onto the lead! It is possible to splice into the harness.
But it's going to be difficult in the engine compartment. You'll need a special splice, [aircraft type], for shielded wire. ------------------ Derk Pitt 88 Carrera Coupe |
