So from my understanding this will be a complete top, including frame? No need to butcher the old one? Tks Ed.

Correct Ed,

this will be a complete top with latches, guide pins and seals. We are also stamping the escutcheons for the cars that need to be retrofitted.

No butchering required

Hershey Swap Meet.......

Todd,

Would you have something available at Hershey? What stall # are you at? How do we find you there? Any phone number to call you? Thanks.

At this point we really can't quote a price. As soon as the tops are available we will have one ready but until the project has been completed we won't have one. We feel it is better to wait then to quote a price now only to have it change later.

We have spot E-43/44 at Hershey and we hope to bring a few of everything we make, with the possible exception of the targa roofs as they require significantly more time than the fuse covers, steering shaft covers or targa body braces. I will have my 83 targa (see below) there sporting the items we offer so it should be pretty easy to find us since most of the vendors there only have parts and not cars in their stalls. If you need to call us for anything please send me a pm and we can go from there.

just to echo Kris's thoughts, I'm not setting pricing just yet. There are significant costs involved with this project just like any other turn key item. Tooling for skins, tooling for seals, tooling for latches, escutcheon plates, etc., the list goes one.

Once we have the protos done, we can amortize the costs of production over an "anticipated" volume and determine pricing from there.

What I will say is that this is a turn-key product that comes complete and will function as advertised. It's not a "me too" top or skin or what have you that you need to fuss with to make work.

In the mean time, we are busting our butts to make sure we have a variety of bits for show and tell at Hershey. Kris posted the booth number, we hope to see you there.

Boyt, if you feel the need to call, shoot me a pm and I'll give you the number.

Thanks all,

Good stuff!

Wow, I have a Targa on a truck heading my way and happened across this thread! How cool is that?! It has some sort of aftermarket fiberglass top on it and it's just a track car but, man, I learned more about Targas here this evening than I've ever known! Thanks for the education and, cool to sense that there appears to be a bit of a sub-culture of Targas within the 911 community and that's great to see!

Those of us with Targas love them. Those without Targas mostly wonder what's wrong with us. Welcome to the club :-)

Actually, I drove several coupes and a couple Targas when I was P-car shopping. After bumping the top of my head in every coupe (sunroof or not) I ended up with a Targa.

top mold is done and the underside is being clay modeled as we speak.

not only will we have the top but we are also reproducing the escutcheon plates, rear guide pins and an alternative to the side seals that will not require a metal plate and screws be installed. this really will be a plug-and-play item, and for those of you wanting to do some restoration work on folding tops we will have the above parts available at some point in the future (we modeled the rear guide pins from the set on my folding top).

Great work Todd, it's been entertaining and insightful following the development of a much needed and desireable product. You are a true craftsman in a time of waning craftsmanship, kudos!

Thanks for the complements, it's always nice to hear.

Both mold halves done and curing. I anticipate opening them tonight and starting the prep for infusions.

I'll post up some pics when I do.

Barring anything unforeseen, we're on track for having the first part at Hershey.

We're in space E43/44, so stop by and say hello
