I'm happy to report I may have it licked. After volunteering at the COTA club race I got the opportunity to bounce my problem off some great veteran Porsche mechanics. Cliff from Broadway Porsche mentioned that occasionally on the DME systems the computer appeared to be getting confused signals from the O2 Sensor wiring, perhaps some sort of UF interference. His theory was based on the behavior that the problem seemed to come online about 30 seconds after startup. According to Cliff that is when the DME starts to modify the fuel delivery via input from the O2. I have no O2 sensor and clipped the O2 sensor wire right in the DME harness connector. Since that time I've had 3 rainy days with none of the previous behavior. Hopefully this is the issue and it stays fixed.
