No 5th or reverse
After bolting up my 3.2 motor and rebuilt G50 box, first thing I did was try engaging gears. 1st thru 4th are OK , but I can't hit upon a combination of imput/output shaft positions that engages 5th or reverse. Should I be worried, or is just because there's no fluid movement to turn the 5th/reverse idler gears? Wondering whether to proceed with engine hookups or stop now and pull everything out.

I have no experience with the G50 but on the 915 this is usually an adjustment issue at the coupler

I don't understand. Is there a provision for adjustment at the coupler?

It's under the cover on the tunnel just in front of the rear seats. Mark the position of the coupler to the rear shaft before you remove it, so you have a reference point of where you started. You'll probably want to move the coupler a spline or two to the left. Then plug the shaft back in, tighten the coupler and see if you have all of the gears.

OK. That's on 84-86. It was elimnated on G50 (87-89). Thnx.
