Hard starting problem 85 Carrera

Help! I have an 85 Carrera and I have to keep cranking for about a minute before the car sputters and starts. It runs rough but when it warms up, it's almost normal. I had the air flow meter changed with no change. Any ideas of what's wrong? Thanks.

When was the last time you changed the fuel filter or cleaned the ICV?

Also do you have the updated CHTS?

Also basic tune up? When was the last time you replaced the plugs, cap and rotor?

When it's warm does it start right up?
Have you checked the head temp sensor? If the HT is bad, the engine won't get enough fuel when it's cold.

I will check fuel filter. Recent tune up so that shouldn't be an issue. I can smell gas so there is fuel. Thanks for your replies.

I spent many days chasing a no start issue with my '85 and it was a bad coil wire (coil to the distributor).

I believe I have the updated CHT sensor. Is there a way to test it? Thanks
