When I DE'ed my SC, I had Wevo black transmission and engine mounts. The blacks are harder than OEM sports but softer than Wevo blues, that are softer than solids. All that said, there was a fair amount of NVH into the car.

I have read since then that the better option is OEM type sports on the transmission and stiffer (you choice how stiff) on the engine. This not only helps reduce NVH but allows the tranny and engine to flex in proper unison.

I do a bunch of AX and the occasional DE and I went with the poly graphite inserts sold by our host for the tranny, and with Wevo black for the engine. It's worked out very well, the eye candy factor is nice and it's a good balance although much more noise from the engine and transmission will find its way into the cabin, but that's a good thing.

Why do you put the less stiff mounts on the transmission, and the stiffer ones on the engine?

Why not the other way around?

And, doesn't the flex in that engine crossbar add something anyway?

Less stiff at transmission transmits less NHV. No idea about the crossbar.

Some wise folks on this board have suggested the compete opposite. The stiffer in the transmission and the more compliant at the engine. You want the difference in rigidity to allow for some flex and it makes sense to keep the tranny end tighter, I've found with my 915 has helped the shifting. With the wider offset engine mounts allowing for desired flex.

I'll be the first to say that I may / probably have it backwards. That said, I remembered it that way because of a comment about the NVH coming from the transmission mounts. And yes it was a comment from one of the guys I too most respect on the board.

I hope we get this straight be cause I sold the SC and then bought it back after the buyer had changed all 4 mounts back to OEM stock.

ok, here is a tidbit I saved on this:

use more rigid mounts at the transmission end only while using softer good (new) Factory mounts at the engine - Grady

- I have no idea why; the moment arm at the engine will be longer

I went sports at the engine and polyurathane (stiffer) at the trans. Shifts better, but it does transmit a fair amount of engine vibration into the car. With my firm suspension, etc., this just adds to the raw sports car fell. I like it.

I'm planning to use sport/cabrio mounts at the transmission and stock OEM for the engine. I figure that should be fine for a street car.

I have a set of WEVO mounts for the engine with the blue pillows. For the trans I wasn't sure what to go with so I called Windrush, told them what I use my car for. Based on my car being mostly track but still tagged so I can drive on the street, they suggested I go with black pillows. I'll know if it was the right recommendation when the weather breaks because I can't wait to see how they affect my car.

I am doing what Arne is doing, bought them from our host and will put them in this weekend.

Here is another thread that is similar to the one Hal posted where Grady recommends stiffer at the trans, flex at the engine.

Go with solid transmission mounts, it adds tonnes of raw feelings to the car!
