Rust assessment and advice
Hi
Just had a good poke around under the rear fender of my 1982 sc. Seems pretty solid, but looks like it has spent 30 years in the rain (which it has - UK car). What do you think guys - an abrasive of some kind and some rust treatment. I guess the patches of bare rust need treating fairly urgently. Is that supporting panel behingd the door latch replacable? I will get the sill covers off next weekend. But I used the Porsche jack to lift the car on the jacking points and nothing collapsed - so I reckon thats a good sign!. Here are some pics of the left hand side: ![]() ![]() ![]() The right side is better I think: ![]() ![]() Interested to hear any comments Jack |

You asked if the panel is replaceable. Yes.
Here are some pics of the process. We drilled out the spot welds. Also note what we found lurking underneath. Saving a 73 from the crusher...

Hi i would clean the rust areas up and use rust converter then some under seal on them. As you say its a good sign you used the jacking points and its still ok. I use mine all the time just put in the lifting plate i got off Ebay so you can put this in the jacking point and use a trolly jack. I think you should get 101 projects for porsche 911 by Wayne Dempsey if you are going to do work on the car.
