Painting upper valve covers - paint suggestions?

Since I'm adjusting valves and other maintenance, my valve covers are off for the week and I think I will paint them. They are currently black but peeling.

Anyone with suggestions for paint (i.e., semi-gloss, flat, or crinkle black). I'm keeping them black but I noticed several paints at the auto-parts.

Lastly, what is the best way to scrape the paint off the raised porsche logo.

Thanks............Vern

I've been told that paint will reduce heat transfer out of the area inside the cover.

Cheers Richard

I did mine in yellow, but saw a guy on here that painted his crinkle black and sanded the paint off the lettering. Had a nice race look to it. I just used 220 wet/dry paper by hand. Easy and controllable.

My brother gave me a set of powder coated covers that he sanded the paint off of the letters.

Thanks Bro!

Rustoleum Engine Enamel 500 F black after rustoleum self etching primer. Prep is everything. Paint it all and file off the letters after drying and clear coat the letters with clear enamel....

Thanks guys!

I'm only doing the uppers coves and I'm leaning towards the crinkle black. Photos to follow after I get it all put back together.

Here's a photo of the valve cover I added crinkle finish to. Baked in an oven to help develop crinkle texture. This was 7 years ago. I'm dropping the engine this March in which I'm going to bead blast the covers and polish then apply hi-temp clear coat.
