Need help with a 911 Engine ID
I read some of the other posts about ID'ing your 911 engine, but I still have some confusion. The engine is in a 1977 911, but my mechanic didnt think it was the original engine, and a few smog items have been added that I dont think were on a 1977. I went out and looked at the right side fan mount the number there faces the right side of the car (unlike some of the pictures facing the back of the car. The number is 6370844. Stamped in much smaller numbers just above it is 911/81.
If they got rid of the 2.7L mag motor hurray. If not, I dont want to put a lot of money into and would prefer to swap out engines. Thanks, Brad |

And would be fitted in a RoW car. The car matching VIN would fall within the 9117300001 - 9117302449 range.

Thanks for the information. I was hoping it didnt have the 2.7 L motor, but somebody has done some work to it already, straight out of Waynes book.
