Best Porsche service tool I have bought in a while.

After 15 years of balancing 911 motors on My big floor jack, I finally bought a lift table. This is the cats meow for pulling 911 motors on the lift. It sits perfectly on the table to slide it out, and then, lower it down, remove the trans, raise it back up, slide it right into the engine yoke reciever, and done. Easy, safe, and makes getting it up onto the engine stand a snap. I bet it saved me an hour or so of messing around today pulling a motor out of a 930.
It is also sweet to work on. I stripped a bunch of stuff of the motor right while it was sitting on the table.
Highly reccomended if you pull a lot of motors. I can think of a gazillion uses for this around the shop as well.

Just rub it in that not only do you have a lift table, you have a lift too.

That's exactly my next step. I'm doing my first engine pull. Got all the stuff removed, now need just those four little bolts. Now i'm gonna go shopping for a lift table. What brand do you recommend? I was trying to find something made in USA.

I know that Harbor Freight has a 500 lbs version, is that heavy enough?

For your 71, it's probably just enough. From the info I have found on the web, the SC engine weighs around 450 lbs, the 3.2 weighs around 550 lbs. For a 71 2.2 or so, I would think you should be lighter than the SC. These are all engine weights, transmission weight not included.

Harbor Frieght's 1000-lb model:

I got it for $165 with a coupon. It's probably the reason I've never had back pain.

Great tool.

I made a spare one into a pneumatic-powered driving sim cage

That is the one have and it is a great tool! In fact, my engine is sitting on it right now as I wait for my clutch disc to arrive....

Very nice looking lift table fastfredracing. Can you tell us which brand it is and where you purchased it? Thanks.

It's a Bendpak mobile lift...

I didn't want a stationary lift, I can utilize it anywhere in the garage.

Sorry, I should have said my 71 has a 3.0L that's going into it. I've edited my signature.

That's a clever setup. I didn't know there was forklift type of setup for cars. The rest of your garage looks nice too.

Matt:

Are there stabilizer feet coming out from the lift unit somewhere? The feet I can see are far too narrowly spaced to support that load safely.

Is that the Harborfreight 500Lb model?

That is what it looks like in the picture.

I don't want to hijack Fast Fred's thread....but

I ve had multiple cars on his lift, including my Audi S4 and never had an issue. Remember, it is a Bendpak....
