It's for the flux capacitor!
But seriously, it's for nothing, it was a "test plug" on the later SC's. In some of the earlier cars it was for the thermotime valve. You clearly have an 81-83 with those metal fuel lines in the photo.

I have an 83 SC and originally did not have a TTV on my car. After I installed one I had a home for that cable.

I just found the same plug lying under the intake on my 1980 SC. I searched here and found that it's not needed on our cars.

Scott's right. That's the early style flux connector. The later 3.2's had a 4 pole connector for the 3rd channel GPS tracking for Google's Latitude application.
