I know, another window motor question!

87' 911 First time post and I love this site. Passenger side window, switch is good, power at the switch, motor is no good. I have removed the door card and am ready to proceed farther. Window is in the closed position so, if I remove the four allen bolts holding the regulator can I then lower the regulator and window downward to access the motor bolts or am I missing a step or are there other bolts/pieces that require removal?

Welcome!
Throw up a pic of your car when you get a sec.

Its been a couple of years since I worked on my window motor, but from my notes I put the window half-way down, threw a block of wood in there, and used a 3/8 socket on the 2 or 3 motor hex head bolts. I think disconnecting the power plug while in the door was a bit of a challenge.

I think you can do it your way if you put a block of wood in there to prop up the window.
I do recall later deciding to remove the regulator anyway so I could fix the regulator spring pivot, and clean and lube the whole thing. I found that to be broken during the motor process.

I hope this helps.

Still confused

Since the motor is dead, the window is in the full-up position and so I need to know what fasteners I need to pull out to enable me to drop the window to half way down along with the regulator/motor or if that is even possible. If that is possible I can than block the reg/window. I'd prefer not to pull the reg if I don't have to as the window worked very smoth and feeling around it appears to be well lubed.

I got your PM and replied via email before I saw this.
IN my email I included a write up compiled from various pelicans/threads. It has no pics, but does include some info. I would recommend you get a bentley manual if you can - it is a big help. Search the threads/site too - I sent you a couple on some related stuff, but I know there are some with pics.

here is a tech tip that may help:

I recall seeing some vids on youtube as well - the 944's a little close

Read your owners manual,it has an explanation on how to manually raise or lower your window in an emergency. If you don't have one,the procedure is to remove the tweeter cover from your door card and insert an allen key in the center of your gear and rotate it the applicable way !

Actually,if your tool kit is somewhat complete, the required tools should be in it ...

Cheers !

You are correct, however the emergency capability is only applicable on the drivers side door. Why? I wish I knew.
