How do I get a pressure plate off a 901 trans...with no engine.

I know you should be able to just turn the bearing to release it, but the PO unbolted it from the flywheel without taking it off. The bearing is jambed in there good. I've tried clamping it a bunch of ways with no luck. It's a 911/01 (901) trans.
No, I don't have a engine to bolt it to...

Hoping there is a trick to it.

Thanks

Not putting miles on your car is like not having sex with your girlfriend, so she'll be more desirable to her next boyfriend.

pull the fork back so you can rotate the t/o bearing 90 degrees with a screwdriver.

I had some interesting issues here too, where the pressure plate and throw-out bearing would not spin, and the otherwise correct 90 degree turn while releasing the fork would not work:

1970 (911/01) transmission refurb issues

Eventually reaching through the bottom to loosen the pivot bolt on the clutch fork loosened everything up.

Good luck,
Mike

I believe I said that couldn't be done in the very first sentence.

BINGO! Thank you!
It took a while as you can only turn the bolt a few degrees, I even had to flip the wrench every time, but it worked like a charm. The arm had to be fairly loose before it would let me turn the bearing.
Bonus is it looks like I might have a '71S pressure plate to sell, very light weight, good surface.
