Hi Alex,
Is it correct that your front brakes are 964 calipers? The discs don't look stock discs. Can you please elaborate on this? Thanks a lot. André |
Hi!
Yes, fronts are 944 Turbo calipers (same as 964) , modified to radial brackets and discs are from UK supplier (Reyland Motorsports) - same as AP but a bit cheaper. Had to fabricate a center piece with the correct off-set. I tell you: had to do a lot of tests and tries, to center the calipers, but is such an easy job. The only problem is the time to take to assemble and disassemble all the parts. The brackets supplier also sells a complete kit ready to fit. My solution was a cheap solution... You can find a lot of info on this board about this subject. |
Alex,
what disc size have you used? André |
300x28 mm PCD 7"

Alex,
I'm still trying to figure out how you modified the door capping. I got some free cappings and removed the vinyl. Underneath is ideed a foam layer from & cm thick, and then there is a steel structure. How dit you cut it so far back? Can you elaborate more on this? Thanks Andre |
Dede911, Sorry I have been away for awhile and didn't see your question.
Yes, I pulley the vinyl out (around 10 cm to the back) and with a sharp knife, I cut sort of a cylindrical section, the same shape of the roll cage tube to clear it. I did go as deep as the metal frame but this depth depends on the position of your roll cage. I do not have any photos of the process but as I pulled back the vinyl it become obvious because the foam is very easy to mold, even scratching your fingers on it. Sorry if my English is not very clear... If you want I can take a closer/clear picture If you need... |
Thanks Alex.
I will give it a try. André |
This project has a limited budget. Because of that, the solution you mentioned was going to cost much more. And the same time, I know that most of the rally cars here in Europe have similar roll cages to mine and from their experience, they work fine. http://ehealthca.com/ipad/images/22.gif http://ehealthca.com/ipad/images/23.gif
