Odometer issue

Hi guys,

I just wondering which cable controls the odometer reading within the speedo? I have seen a few threads where people are testing that part of it with a drill bit. When i hook it up to the car, I can turn the dial and the reading at the base of the speedo will jump through the digits however when I plug it into the car & go for a drive, speedo works but the odometer or the reading at the base of the speedo doesn't tick over...

Last note was that I replaced an existing miles/hr speedo to km/hr and the odo worked in the previous speedo so thinking it might be the gauge?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thx

Hi,

Unfortunately odo gear failure is common. There are some good threads and a Pelican Technical article on the problem at

Pelican Technical Article: Odometer Repair - 911 (1965-89) - 930 Turbo (1975-89)

Depending on the speedo you might be able to source a the odo gear in Australia. I fixed mine by following one of the threads.

Regards
