3.6 Upgrade to SC--add value?

I'm not planning on selling my car ever but I'm curious to know if this adds much value to an already nice SC. It seems to be a desireable upgrade assuming its done right.

Just for example. A 77S Targa with a 3.2 was recently put up for sale on ebay. The car seemed to be in good to excellent condition. It also had SC flares and 7+8x16 Fuchs. Top bid was around 10,500. That is roughly what that car should go for with the 2.7. The owner wanted 12,500 for the car but didn't get it although the car was probably worth it. He probably will eventually but when you do this with a car it limits you to particular group of knowledgeable buyers.

To the non knowing, it simply looks like a car whose engine and body are mismatched. The variables go into how the emgine is installed and therein lies the problem. At least you know the original engine was placed by the factory (although it has probably been dropped 2-3 times!)

Don't you guys think that the desirablilty of the original engine factors in as well? I would think a 2.7 replaced by a later engine would be a more desirable and acceptable swap than a 3.6 for a 3.0 or 3.2, which are already fine, albeit less powerful, engines.
