'74 CIS question - help please

To all you CIS experts out there, please help:

I have some questions on my 74 CIS fuel injection. All my literature (workshop manual, Heynes, 101 Projects, BA bible, etc) did not give me the answers....The car runs OK, from what I can tell!

The throttle position control pressure regulator (item 20) is not hooked up to anything. The 1/4" hard black plastic line (where is that supposed to go) is cut off!!

The other terminal is not connected to anything?!?!

What is the downside of not having this hooked up?

The warm up control regulator runs a hard plastic line direct to the fuel distributor center connection (control pressure). Another line goes to the fuel return line. Another line mates the vacuum line for the distriutor timing adjustment. This looks all fine to me.

Second, there is a cloth braided rubber line (about 1/2 inch) comming from the underside of the car. It looks like a fuel line and comes from the front somewhere. It ends behind the engine. It has a cable clamp but is not attached to anything. What is it for?

If someone would have a diagram for the correct routing of all those lines or some pictures with the engine out of the car that would be terrific.

I believe what you have here is that the warm up regulator has been updated to the vacuum type, the throttle position regulator is not used with this type of warm up regulator. The throttle position regulator is not used on cars after '74. Your original warm up regulator is not vacuum type and there for is controled by throttle position instead of vacuum. If someone knows different please let me know.

Im glad to hear that.

I have a 1975 model and it has the throttle regulator and the warm up regulator without the vacume connections.
I was under the impression mine was not set up correctly but from what you say it sounds O.K

1975 2.7L CIS

The previous owner has put a Volvo WUR on my car. its the (004) type with no vacuum lines at all.

Does anyone have a schematic diagram and or set up info for the correct WUR for a 1975 model. I will need to create new vacuum lines and connections and Im not sure how.

I think I need a 009 WUR, but not sure.

Just to clarify the part number I was referring to above are the last 3 digits for the bosch number with the prefix 0 438 140---

How do I tell which type of WUR I have on my car. I'll check the Bruce Anderson right now. If you have any additional hints, please let me know.

Does anyone have any ideas about the cloth braided line coming from the undertray of the car. Could this be the charcoal tank vapor thing?

I heard there is some line running the fuel vapors back to the engine where it gets introduced somewhere in the intake to get burned....

Where in the engine compartment would this line connect to?

If the braided line comes out from the underside where the other fuel lines come out, then it is the vent line. This line should connect into the charcoal cannister. There is also no harm in just plugging this line. I removed my charcoal cannister because it was broken and just plugged this line. Several other folks here have done the same.

I don't see the 004 type of WUR in the books, the 009 is shown as the vacuum type for '75. My original WUR is type 001, I did replace it with a new one a few years ago with type 129 with doesn't shown in the books either.

Let me know the part no. of your vacuum type and I'll see if it shows up. It is possible that some '75 came with the non vacuum type.

Does your book list all the types used on a 1975 model, if so which ones are they ?

Remember mine is a euro 911.

Is it true that if it has a throttle regulator then the WUR doesn't need vacuum connections.?

Actually I'am looking at factory manuals and parts book for USA cars. For 74-75 models WUR's shown are 001 & 008 for non vacuum and 009 for vacuum. That part no. shown on the PET is called an insulating sleeve, probably for the electric connection. On the WUR I installed I had to also buy new electric connectors and hard fuel line.
