911SC '82: Choice of interior carpet

Hello Gentlemen,

I am ordering a new carpet kit for my SC. My interior is the same as this:
http://fuelfed.files.wordpress.com/2011/07/porsche911sc-interior.jpg

- Tan carpets and door panels
- Brown dash and door panel arm-rest

Which of these colors make sense to order?
http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/WU-materials/pilecarpet-D.htm

I'm abroad, so ordering swatches will be too time-consuming. I'v seen this interior on many SC's, so i guess its quite common.

Thanx,
davelarue

Ah, ok, is biscuit similar to champagne do you think? My seats are tan leather.

Honestly I dunno. I don't know how that color will scale up. I have the same identical interior. Generic tan leather seats, and that weird dark tan carpet. You could always go with a new color! Hehe.

I got a linen sliverknit set that I'm gonna replace the original color with. I think it will work. But I'm not sure.

It's expensive, but man the quality is really damn nice on the real stuff.

Just my .02

I was looking for match for my navy sliverknit carpet and ordered samples from US and Europe. They took about 2 weeks to arrive. Glad I did this because the color variance was significant between all the varios shades of ble.

I ended up with a carpet from World Upholstery, who incidentally were the fastest in sending samples.

Maybe it's worth doing this before you commit to an order?

I would be very wary of ordering the "domestic cut pile" carpet! I have the exact interior scheme you have, and indeed aquired a domestic set. Believe me, you will not be happy with the look or quality of that product. Bite the bullet and buy the real sliverknit and avoid buyers remorse! I now have a NIB set of the domestic cut pile in the correct color (which I need to sell!), but will not put it in my beautiful $20K plus car in order to save a few hundred bucks! The set came from one of Pelican's great suppliers who makes very high quality interior trim products. The sliverknit product the supplier makes is only about twice the price of his "domestic" carpet, but light years apart in appearence. Do it right! Sent you a PM with some info.

Looks quite nice, where did you source your carpet from?

their customer service is not the best in the world but i was happy with the product. they are one of the suppliers for our host, and the cheapest cost i could find online.

it seems like everyone else has done it, so why not me... (interior)

-edit-

Carpet Set
This Carpet Set uses Perlon or Domestic Nylon (Loop or Cut-Pile) to replace all the original carpet and the rubber mats.

World Upholstery is really not a web business- Call them. Be VERY specific about what you need and do your homework- go over the carpet set or leather and ensure they are making you EVERY SINGLE piece you need. prices are great and quality is excellent. For a couple of hundred bucks I would go for Sliverknit- I just got a new set for my 89 Cab- and I've used them for at least a half dozen interiors-

Guess I didn't look close enough. The color the OP needs is available in genuine Cashmere Beige Sliverknit (only offered in Black or Cashmere) in the mid $500s from another well known Pelican supplier. I myself would gladly pay the extra $130 for the original Sliverknit material and have an absolute original look. But that's just my mindset. In fact I am about to order mine shortly. Anyone need a NIB domestic cut pile set for a '74-'84 911 in a Beige/Brown color? Will make a great deal!

I ordered some samples from Autobahn Interiors. The Sliverknit was not as thick as the domestic cut pile. Is that normal?

Check out Lakewell interiors in Belgium. They will also send you samples.
Check out the 911 carpet pics on their site, looks closer to original Porsche quality than any I've seen.(correct carpet backing etc.) The quality of their workmanship and attention to detail is superb. I worked up a price on their site, and even with the shipping from Europe, the price was very competitive if not cheaper than some domestic Sliverknit offerings. Quite a few folks on this forum have used them and been very satisfied.
