Help! Petronix Ignitor II install // NO CDI
![]() OK, since my car has no CDI and I thought swapping out my points and condensor to the Petronix unit would be cake. Wrong. I followed the instructions and installed the unit as shown in the image above. The car will not fire now but turns over. What am I missing? Could I have screwed up the timing? The thick blue wire from the panel I ASSUME is the 12v power from the alternator. What is the black coiled wire on the negative side of the coil? Should the black wire from the Petronix be grounded out and NOT attached to the negative terminal. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ![]()

on German cars, BROWN is usually the Ground
Black or some variant is usually Ign ON doubt that any "coiled black wire" was ever a 1969 oem wire - so go figure out what that is attached to whether or not it turns over is irrelevant - starter solenoid is an entirely different circuit (look for contacts or pins 50 in your wiring diagram) check ALL these - the answer will be there Troubleshooting Tips (Ignitor) http://www.thisoldtractor.com/gtbender/mg_manuals/pertronix_low_voltage_test.pdf Pertronix Igniters Electronic ignition, Pertronix good luck
