77 CIS fuel lines

I cracked a line changing the fuel filter. I was able to repair it by cutting off the damaged section, using a heat gun on low and slipping it back together.
that got me thinking about the age and condition of the rest of the lines.
I had an 87 924s that burnt to the ground (mechanic who did a valve job and water pump failed to tighten the fuel rail.) Now I'm concerned about my 911.
Pelican does not offer replacement fuel lines.
Many of the pictures showing hot rods have s/s fuel lines. ??
What is the consensus on using slip fit s/s with hose clamps vs the
unobtainable OE type of hard plastic lines?

What experience have you guys had with the issue?

thanks
Kenny

I replaced a few lines. There's a hose/line merchant in LA that had the right stuff. Had to buy 25 feet of it, but the price was reasonable. The lines have different sizes so you have to know what to ask/look for. For example, the line from the WUR to the fuel distributor is a different inner diameter than the lines from the fuel distributor to the injectors, but the outside diameter is pretty close to the same.

You don't heat them to get the fittings back in, but that's the logical approach. The actual method is much more straightforward. You tap them in. Here's my post showing how. You'll need some oak or hardwood and a few drill bits.

Not to take anything away from Len (many don't want to mess with it and he appears highly regarded)

But FWIW I recently found it's pretty easy to recreate these in your own garage if you get the correct line and take a few minutes to make a little jig.

Happy to offer the correct Polyamid tube by the Meter and the fittings individually to anyone who wants to do the assembly work themselves.

Please email me for details. No PM's.

Thanks,

Len
