Question Why can't Porsche make a correct targa seal???

Damn this incorrect targa seal business makes me mad. I am still in the process of trimming my new seal to fit.

You would think that with the amount of Targa's out there Porsche would have made a PROPER fittting seal by now!!!

Just venting.

Shawn

Shawn, I have been trying to fit the seal properly for about 2 years now... I'm just lazy and the weather is normally OK here in Texas..

I just think that they made the correct seal but for the wrong car..

Rejoice! You are using a better seal!. Problem is that it is not for your car...

Obsoleting parts of this sort is very frustrating. I have a '78 Targa and am nursing my current setup just to avoid replacing it.

You could ask that Dan at Carsinc create the seal for you. It is not cheap but will save you some headache and frustrations.

Good luck,
John

Thumbs up

John,

You bring up an interesting thought. Wonder what it would take (numbers that is) to get Dan to produce a aftermarket Targa seal and eliminate what we have now.

Bet if we could get several hundred it would be worth his while. I know around 10 people that would redo their seals if there was a good seal at a realistic price.

I dunno, but it is worth a try. I will mail him and ask that he respond here if he can/wants to.

I think we need to clone an army of Dans.

I bought this seal from Dan But he told me it would have to be trimmed and gave me his directions. He says that all he does is by the new factory seal and trim it. Mine is better than it was biut I still have more trimming to do.

Very frustrating, I was just thinking Porsche should make a proper seal for the older cars!
