Lightbulb Conversion from "Finned auxiliary oil cooler" to Carrera auxiliary cooler

I have a 1981 911SC with the 20 odd brass tube, so called, "Finned auxiliary oil cooler" which at the time was an upgrade from the trombone. I am considering an upgrade to the Carrera oil cooler and my question is if the existing mounting brackets will accept the Carrera cooler or must I purchase the new brackets and/or will there be some welding involved?:

don't know if it will fit in the old mounts, most likely not. The cooler kit has the new brackets and is bolt or weld in

Most likely you will have to relocate the horns, which is no big deal. It sounds to me like you might have the cooler that uses the same mount as the Carrera.

I replaced the tube cooler on my SC with a Carrera one many years ago. IIRC all I needed to do was replace the top mounts rubber isolator

The bottom mount will work, the top bracket will have to be changed. No welding, no big deal...

Leave it be.....only add an additional cooler in line IF you are having an issue with 'maintaining' cooling at high speeds or other than out the ordinary driving. 180-190F is optimal

If you are overheating, I would suspect thermostat issues.
