If it's an Allen bolt it may one of those holding the seat down to the rails...

When I was a kid I'd walk to church with my Dad. He'd spot nuts and bolts and such along the side of the road and pick them up and say, "Gee, Alan. I don't know how all these cars make it down the road with their parts falling off!" And he'd put them in his pocket. When we got home they'd go into a coffee can on the bench. Many times I've dug through there and found parts I could use to repair my cars.
Sorry something (maybe) fell off your car. Hope you find out where it came from soon. It's gonna bug you till you do. |

Doesn't look like its for holding the seat to the rails. Those are threaded all the way up - at least in my car they are.

Obviously its not needed. Just one of those bolts that German car makers put on to add complexity and cost.

I'd say it's a bolt, but there are no sign of threads... and it's definitely bent. It's not shiny either. Perhaps some kind of plastic/rubber fastener? But then the fracture throws me. It's fractured like a brittle metal. I'm lost. Is this a trick? I've thought too much.

It's what holds down the cup holder - that's why your car does not have a cup holder.
