I talked to Ralph and he said they can fix and recover my dash. A week and $75 later they get it and now my dash is to bad to fix according to the guy doing the work. It has the hump above the vent and a hump on the side no cracks. Ralph assured me he could fix it. Now im waiting for Ralph to call me on Monday. The nice lady on the phone said they might have a dash in storage.

If you have a dash restored by them post a picture up for me before and after so I wont have a bad weekend.

DJ,
No one bats a 1000 in the majors.
And we all know the feeling of not getting what we expected.
Frankly $75 sounds low for expectations.

2 cents:
Sometimes its a good idea to work out the issue in private before going public.
Making a negative post is like a threat and human nature does not like threats.
As you noted you are waiting on a solution from the vendor. So, give them the opportunity
to make things right and if they do certainly post something positive.

If things go south, here is a fella that seems to get a lot positive reviews, I have no experience
with his work though, but all looks good:

I don't understand the problem here. Some things can't be fixed. You can't expect him to know one way or the other until the piece is in front of him, so what did they do that got you upset?

Threats? when did i do that??? I just post up what is going on with my dash. negative post?

And when he assures you on the phone that the warping is no problem as long as it's not cracked, yes i do expect him to know if he can fix it's, it apparently not his first rodeo.

You guy got any pictures of work Auto's inter did for you?? NO.

Nobody said you made a threat. What he very clearly said is that when you start a post airing your dirty laundry with a vendor, human nature is to take that as a threatening behavior.

Just as another data point, but your post reads as negative to me too. Phone consults are not 100% fool proof. What the vendor thinks they can repair based on an owner's description doesn't always play out when the part arrives. Just don't kill the messenger. He didn't warp your dash beyond repair.

If you own a Weissach edition that you are restoring and are whiny about $75 you might own the wrong kind of car.

You feel better? got any before and after pictures of a dash restored by Auto's inter? No?

Moving on. I have seen some seats on here , real nice. But that is all i have seen from a pelican. A lot of 356's on their site. Was hoping someone had used them and had before and afters. Stay tuned for Monday, I'll post up what happens good or BAD.

I talked to him over email, nice guy. He was my second choice.

I'm pretty sure I'll be happy with Auto's. I'm hoping they can use my dash.

My budget for the dash is $1500. I spent $275 for leather from GAHH and $75 for shipping. I have $1150 leftover, Auto's quoted me $680 so I should have plenty of cash leftover to get a new dash or labor cost to fix mine.

Ralph called and he said they can do it BUT he recommended I get a new dash to recover. SO now I'm on the hunt for a better dash. Anybody got one in the rafters they don't want.

I just got off the phone with just dashes and they can restore it and cover in a vinyl and color match for $1350. Then i guess I'll send it back to Autos to cover in leather. If i cant find a good one in the next couple of day I'll go ahead do it.

since you already have the leather covering, doesn't make sense to me to have the dash covered in vinyl first -- wouldn't they need to remove the vinyl covering to install the leather? Why not send the leather to Just Dashes and have them take care of it all in one shot?

For just dashes to fix and cover the dash with my leather would be $2000.
