Garage Build

Hi guys not really P car technical but I am building a new house and am planning my garage. So far it's a 7m x 6m outline with a 3.2m x 1.2 x 1.8 deep inspection pit. I am installing air and power in it. I know there are a few garage threads here just wanted to start my own. Will post progress pics as the build continues.

Daviboy,
Beautifully setting. Hope that you will have some big windows overlooking the valley. By the way, why the double wall in the pit?

My guess for the double wall is reinforcement. Fill it with rebar and cement, backfill around the structure with dirt and pour a 5-6 inch floor.

Timmy2 correct the double wall is for reinforcement there is a 6" concrete base twin walls with rebar and concrete and the the slab which is also 6" with rebar. My engineer over kills everything but hey who wants to be working down there and have it collapse around you with a 911 or beetle on top....

Thanks Uwon there will be 5 double sliders looking out onto that view which is the 15th fairway of a golf course with a view of a lovely hill behind.

Nice location! I was surprised to see a block foundation....would not pass structural building codes where I come from. Looks like a great project! looking forward to the updates!

mikesride FYI not blocks they are 14Mpa cement bricks as structurally sound as clay brick. Also being cement bricks they never stop curing so thus are constantly increasing in strength. Would that pass your code?

Guess he missed the part about where you said "your engineer", but I will bet he stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
