Question windshield update help

is it possible to update the windshield and or gasket on a 1975 911 to the newer style windshield gasket which has a cleaner look and does not require the metal trim piece which goes around the center of the gasket??? Is this a possible update for my year? I need a new windshield anyway and intend to change the gasket also, and was wondering if this can be done.

it can be done (have seen it in posts here), and they all stated this, but it must have a good coat of seal/glue to make it fit correctly and not leak. I am going to look at this option myself once I get my car in Germany.

I put a 993 windshield and the later seal on my 78SC. No glue or additional sealant, bit I live in So Cal were it hardly ever rains. With the hose test and the California rains I have not experieced any leaks.

That sounds good Paul, I may lean toward this install soon. My question is why does the tech manual say to use the adhesive? That would save a little expense if the adhesieve is not needed.
