Twin plug setup - weak/no spark help...
Gents.
I am trying to start my new engine, 2.3 ST in porsche 911 - 1972. Everthing is good, but there is only a weak or no spark getting too my plugs, so the engine won't start ![]() The setup is 2 cdi 3 pin box, 2 new coils, new lumenition box as points and lumenition RPM stops. ![]() Both cdi box wiring: Cdi box A to coil 15 Cdi box B to 12 V Cdi box C to lumenition points Cdi box D to Ground on coils Cdi box grounded on car. Both coils: Coil 15 to Cdi box A Coil 1 to Ground Lumenition points: Points to both Cdi box C 12 V To distributor RPM stops: not connected. I get Reading on B and C on the cdi box and Ground is this Right.? is there something I am missing here.?

If you are using points to trigger the system you should be OK.
But if the Lumenition thing is an electronic device...it may not have enough output to trigger both systems. This is because the output would be divided between 2 inputs...and the one with the lowest resistance would grab almost all the power (Ohms Law). If so...the answer is to go to old style points (with the mandatory adjustment and maintenance) or pump the output of the electronic points into an amplifier with 2 distinct outputs. Either way...I would track down the problem by using only one system at a time to see if each system is actually working. Then you can make a descision as to how to proceed. Bob Bob

Bob.
Thanks for the reply. The lumenition box is the trigger from the distributor. In my raceclass they all "Porsche" run with this lumenition setup, so the system works. But i don't understand why i am only getting weak spark. Is my system grounded wrong.? Best Tommy
