Porsche Crest Question regarding 3.0L fan

Hi,

I was wondering if the fan off a 3.2 will fit my motor (1979/1980)? I found one that is powder coated same color as my car (speed yellow), and he's willing to trade.

Thanks,
--Michael

78/79 SC were the only models to use the 226mm fan(besides some very rare race cars). So if you have a 78 or 79 the 245mm fan from an 84-89 will not fit w/o changing the shroud as well. If you have any other year then it will fit fine, but only the 76/77 5 blade fans benefit from such replacement.

Does anyone have the part number of the fan shroud for the 78/ 79 226mm fan?

Now if I trade the shroud and fan assembly will it work? Will my setup work on his car and vice versa?

Thanks,

Sure, you could swap the whole shroud/alt/fan housing/fan etc but why would you?

for 11 blade fans
The 226mm fan driven at 1.8:1 pumps 1380 l/s@6000rpm
The 245mm fan driven at 1.68:1 pumps 1500 l/s@6000rpm
The 245mm fan driven at 1.8:1 pumps 1600 l/s@6000rpm

Thanks for the info Bill. So if I understand correctly the 245mm pumps more air right? It sounds like I'm better off powder coating my own fan!

Thanks again,
--Michael
