Door key will unlock but not lock on key 930 87
Hello all, once again sorted out the other problem now. However got another one, refitted the handle and lock etc, Cental locking now working, I can unlock on the key but it will not lock the drivers door with the key but locks and opens on the remote button .
However it locks and unlocks the passengers door fine on the key? Question I may have refitted the key lever in the wrong position maybe? Thanks for any help.

See Ya (cool sounding Asian name, eh?), have you buttoned up your interior door panel and trim? If not, you should be able to ascertain the function of 3-position lock switch by disconnecting the harness plug, and introducing an ohmmeter to look for contact closure in both positions. Often, the ability to unlock with the key is not due to the electrical operation of the lock motor (solenoid), but rather due to the mechanical tripping of the latch by the (adjustable) lever behind the switch on the lockshaft. The inability to actuate the obviously operable locking motor (witness it being able to actuate via the console button) with the key, strongly suggests either a faulty doorhandle switch, harness connector issues, or an open pathway between it and the locking control unit. It's time to bare the door's innards once again.

Just fixed a similar problem in my '87 this last weekend. In my case, the passenger door would not lock on either the key or the button but it would barely unlock using the key or button. The culprit was the little rod that connects the "transmission" to the ball socket on the lock mechanism. The plastic rod end sheared off so it would not pull the lock down to lock but the stub would push it up barely enough to unlock. It was also jamming into the lock mechanism which made the manual operation really tough as well. I think the only cure here is to take the door panel apart, grab a flashlight, and look at what is happening when you use the key in the door and the button on the console. You may have some flaky wiring on the door handle that is not popping the solenoid or something could be binding up. Experimentation and observation will be your friends here but I would definitely look at the rod that actuates everything as it could be jammed somehow in a way that would cause this. Good luck!
