Restoring an F model to its original aubergine paint scheme but not entirely convinced to go with the original brown leather interior and who knows what colour carpet - long since replaced. I'd like to see some photos of aubergine cars with non-black interiors if anyone out there has any or links to same. Thanks.

No pictures of that color exterior, but I do have a complete brown interior including sport seats for sale.

Well, I understand why you are painting the car its original color, but if you are going to do that, then I assume originality must be one of your top priorities because Aubergine is not all that desirable in my book. Somewhat rare yes, desirable no.
So my advice is to stick with the brown interior to keep the car as original as possible.

This car (not mine) looks like it has the tan interior.
![]() Mine originally had a tobacco brown interior, but it was in such bad shape, I redid it in black. I don't think I have a picture of the original interior. ![]() I think the carpet and leather/vinyl choices are better now, so if you can find a pic of the tobacco color, and you like it, you should be able to find someone that will offer what you need to restore it. Yeah, Justin, aubergine sucks. ![]() ![]()

This interior looks a bit darker than the one I posted earlier, and would look fantastic with Aubergine. I heard it referred to as butterscotch.
![]() I think my old 73E's interior was a bit darker than this, if my memory is OK.

IMO aubergine is one of the most beautiful colors you can get on an early 911. Olive is another one.
I agree with keeping it 100% original. |

Another aubergine fan here, voting to keep it original. That butterscotch looks fantastic!!
But I can't help but wonder what aubergine would look like with a light gray interior. Any good photoshoppers out there?

Tobacco is sort of a darker brown - closer to a chocolate than a butterscotch. BUT, looking at the pictures, I think the butterscotch interior looks fantastic, and a really good match for the exterior color. |

I too think Aubergine is a fantastic color. Glad to hear you are sticking with that. Combine that with a tobacco interior and I think you have a stunning combination. I love tobacco brown interiors and that butterscotch looks damn good too.

Yes aubergine (eggplant!). No butterscotch. Charcoal? Would look good and wear well.

I'll take an Aubergine car if someone has one and does not feel comfortable with the color, it's one of my favorites.

Aubergine rocks! And, so does butterscotch! I could live with those colors, no problem.

Nice self-portrait in the rear window. . . What interests me more, sorry, are the luggage straps in the back seat. Do you know anything about this car or its owner?

Thanks for the input. I think a colour in the caramel/tobacco range will carry the day - pretty close to original. And aubergine is just a perfect 70's colour in my eyes so happy to be original there. The mechanics will be period but not original - Factory spec 2.7RS.

Grey goes with purple very well, any grey from light-silver to dark-slate.
