Interior carpet replacement... need help and answers...

So, I've just begun the carpet replacement project. Few questions..

The foot well kick plates seem to be stuck to a leather liner that is connected to the door frame. Do I rip this out or use it to reconnect the new carpets?

Also, I have a number of holes that someone has drilled into the floor pan. Whats the best way to fill them to prevent any water from splashing up during rainy days?

Much of the sound deadening material is breaking off. Any thoughts on how to clean it up? Should a baby it so it doesn't come up anymore or just remove it then use some dynamat material?

Read this:

it seems like everyone else has done it, so why not me... (interior)

You'll find it useful. The carpet stays attached to the leather liner. Carefully remove the door seal, then remove the carpet (at least that's how I think I remember doing mine).

If your carpet is halfway decent, sell it on the classifieds here. Thats how I was able to replace the truly crappy carpet in my 75, thanks to someone who upgraded and who sold me a very nice used interior for $100 bucks. I was very appreciative of that.

Good luck with your project!
