new Fuchs (17,) dont know if I like them (pics)
NEW PICS OF THE WHEELS PAINTED DIFFERENT WAYS ON PAGE 2
NEW PICS ON PAGE 2 hey everyone, I picked up a set of 17 inch Fuchs for my 911 sc, I'm just not sure I really like them. I bought them because my 16 inch fuchs have race tires on them and I did not want to kill them on the street. BEFORE AND AFTER BEFORE http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ps4fd471b8.jpg AFTER http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ps025cde70.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ps17df242c.jpg they almost seem to clash with the car, im going to remove the center caps and see if I like that more- I don't know- what do you think? |
With such large wheels you can and probably should go with really low profile rubber.
What size tires are on right now, and what were they before? As it is, it's a look I could live with. |
You have got a gorgeous car.
The only problem I see in the pictures, is the fact I cannot see the tires. At least not pny iPhone. That looks odd. Other photos in different light? |
I like :)
|
I think the car looks much better with the 16 inch wheels!
|
I think they look good, but I think black centers would look better with a silver car. What brand are the 17's?
|
You can try 911dean suggestion. Use Plasti dip spray, if you do not like the look you can peel it very easily.
|
They look ok but I would black them out completely as suggested.
|
I like then black better.
|
Like the 16s.... 17s too much bling
|
I agree with some of the previous statements regarding the colour. Perhaps black centres would make them look a bit less 'cartoonish'. I have 17s on mine with an RSR finish, but the car is dark blue and so they don't seem so awkward. In my opinion, black wheels just work on light colours like silver or white.
I'd just paint the centres and leave the silver rim like the stockers. All black wheels don't seem quite right to me. BTW, the car looks sweet with the black wheels, and I suspect with black 17s with the silver lip, would look very similar, but with a better choice for tires. |
I think it will look perfect once they are blacked out.
|
I personally like the way the car is in the first picture but I don't think there is anything wrong with the 17" wheels. If I were you I'd give them the same treatment as your 16s, meaning the blacked out centers or another style since you already have a silver car. Beautiful car by the way. SmileWavy

Remove the black entirely. Like this:
http://images.quattroworld.com/proxy...04b5eb99a8.jpg I have a weakness for the all-silver Fuchs. :) |
I like the 16's, but IMO the problem with the 17"s is the centre caps. Remove them and you'll have something.
If you decide you really dont like them, PM me and maybe I can take them off your hands. My car has a set of Fikse FM5's that I just cant get used to looking at. |
I actually like the silver "RSR-ish" finish but I think they would look better with either silver or no center caps.
The way your car is set up, the" no center cap" look would be effective, IMO. And it's free! |
thanks for the comments guys, I would really like all black wheels, just not sure how they would look being 17s- I took the center caps off- I will post pics up tomorrow.
the brand is Rota, I believe wheeldude.com sells them. |
The finish doesn't do it for me since it is very close to the body color, or maybe it's just the pics. I would've gone for the 17s but with black centers and polished lips. But that's just me.
|
I think the big wheels are a necessary evil. They don't look bad, provided they fit properly and are finished well, but they don't really look quite right, either. I also think your suspension had better be tip-top. Old cars with old suspension and big wheels/tires can be downright scary!
|
I think they look great! (Biased source owner of 17" Euros)
I would loose the center caps completely. I feel there are soo many options to finish these wheels with your color car. -Full black (I'm planning on doing this eventually, leaving the spokes matte and glossing the barrels) -Magnus Walker inspiration. Polish just the rim. Seen it in person a few times...looks TIts :) -Little different...change whel studs to longer and add steel lug nuts. Without center caps it looks great. -color match the already silver painted "rsr" styled areas to your paint... I gtg detail the wife's show car (seriously, she has 1) fresh out of new ideas for now. :) |
They look really good IMO, but I wonder if you were expecting the wheels to look like the Euromeister which resemble the 16 inch Fuch. The ones shown are the Rota/Linea Corsa wheels and when you see them with the black centers they look pretty good. I have always said that the Rotas back wheels were made after the 9x 15 Fuchs which do have the lip with another step into the petals. Either way I'm sure that a lot of Pelicans would take them off your hands if you decide to get rid of them! I personally would keep them just paint the petals in black and polish the lips, you may change your mind.
|
I do like them better without the center caps-
I should just be happy, all there just street wheels... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ps97f339b1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ps5dc87aca.jpg |
Don't stare at the wheels alone..take in the whole picture...your car looks good.
|
They look good. Take some eye adjusting but they fit well. The color is what I dont like about them. Seems like the petals are not painted correctly or its just a bad angle in the pic. Classic fuchs polish or all silver would look good. Good Luck!
|
I like the original black wheels better.
|
Remove the black center caps, or paint them. Throws it all off. (Edit- good you did)
|
You could also put long studs on with open steel lug nuts.
They will grow on you. The advantage of modern 17 tires will be worth it. |
I like the 16s better as far as the pedals look. The 17 pedals look like they narrow down too much a the cap and are too wide at the rim, but I suppose that's what they look like when you go to 17s. But as others have said, it looks nice both ways
|
I like the look of the long studs, actually though about doing that a whlile ago- I thought they would be a pain to swap out though... any links to studs to buy? are they as simple as just press out press in or is their a trick to them?
|
I like both, great lookin car.

I like the the look with the Rotas. Very nice! But a think I would go for silver center caps.
|
I like the new ones better as well. Don't black them out.
|
my 1 cent: give the rake look at the back, its lacking that stance.
its all it needs. The right stance will make any Porsche look that good ;) |
Don't listen to everyone here as your car looks horrible and henceforth you should sell it immediately, to me ! :)
Obviously I'm joking, your car looks bleedin lovely, wouldn't change a thing at this point. |
here are the wheels with some plastidip on them to see what I like- what do you guys think?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ps50732bec.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...psb840f894.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...psded81693.jpg heres a pic online of red wheels, if anyone has any photo shop skill I would love to see what my car would look like with red fuchs- I think it would look cool with the roll bar. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ps6f76ce4c.jpg |
They look great!
|
I likee the RED :D
|
I could photoshop it for you if you want, just would have to be later tonight, busy day today. Like the black, but i would leave the lips silver.
|
Andy, that would be awesome if you could do that for me
thank you! |
A matte silver would look great IMHO - I think the tire sizes look great with the height BTW
I like the all matte black actually, though it makes the whole car look a bit more rough around the edges. A silver would be a cleaner/more finished type of look. Either is cool, personal preference of course |
