What's the purpose of this bracket?
Short question:
what is the purpose of the bracket highlighted in the picture below? Its on an '81 SC engine. Thanks, Manfred

It supports your muffler via muffler straps. A strap hangs from each "ear" of the bracket as it sits around your muffler.
