964 rear parcel shelf: will it fit in a 1987?

Will a 964 rear parcel shelf fit in a 1987? Looking at pictures, it looks like it will. Does any have first hand experience with this?

I have a 87 coupe, and I'm trying to add 3-point belts in the rear. I'd rather buy a 964 rear parcel shelf with the seat belt holes already in place, and keep my current one in stock condition.

thanks.

I have wanted to do the same in my '85. So your question is topical for me.

Same here for my 86. I've been in the market for a rear parcel to replace the ZBox subs PO installed and thought of going this route with the rear 3pt seat belts.

Based on pictures, it looks like it might work. Now one of us needs to take a chance and buy the 964 shelf!

I tried, but the seller claimed after I said I would take it AND pay shipping that shipping would "cost too much".

WTF? I'm paying for shipping, what do you care?

Actually, I know the issue. The part is bulky and difficult to package well. He didn't want to bother with that and couldn't tell me that straight up. Otherwise, we would have had a photo how-to posted already.

Let me know if you were able to source out and should you decide to sell your current one, I am looking for one in black even without the holes for the seat belts as I just want to put it back as stock looking.

I have a parcel shelf from an 88( which has provisions for shoulder belts), as well as the complete shoulder seat belt assemblies. Not sure what that is worth, but I would consider selling as my interior has been changed to RS style with no back seat.

I would be interested in a pair of rear lap belts for me car, just to tie in a baby seat.

Maybe we could work out some sort of trade - my lap belts and $$$ for your parcel shelf and shoulder belts. PM me, maybe?

I have a favor to ask.

I need a favor since everyone is talking the 964 parcel shelf and three point belts. I'd love to have the measurements for locating the seat belt trim openings. I put three point belts in my 86 and have simple narrow cuts in the deck because I couldn't find a set of trim pieces at the time. I have the trim pieces now but need some basic measurements on where the backing board is cut. Measurements from the back side of the shelf would be a huge help. Thanks, J.
