Porsche Crest 1985 911 AC blower motor removal

Where can i obtain a step by step instruction article on removing the AC blower motor inside the "smugglers" box with the objective of luricating the bearings or replacing the motor? Thanks!

All the Best,

Greg

Bentley's repair manual (section 870) will give you general instructions; it's so straight forward that little or no specific instructions are required. Remove two support brackets, four spring clips holding the two halves of the evap box together, disconnect the wiring harness in two places, CAREFULLY pull out the thermo capillary tube, and you're there. Sometimes the spring clips can be a bugger to remove and replace, however, if you drop them, they can easily be found by removing the inlet air side of the evap box (inside the car, on the passenger side) and use a small magnet if necessary to retreive them.

There are several posts which address lubrication of the motor shaft.

I think this motor is serviced just like the footwell blower motors.

pm me as needed.

Good luck,

Gerry

My recommendation would be to ......"or replace the motor". Kuehl's 30% more air flow replacement motor is well worth the price. Pics in this thread should help with your questions.

Anyone here with a 1986+ done a Kuehl Wirblesturm "Hurricane" evap motor upgrade?

Motor lube info here

This method of box clip removal can only be done with the entire evap box out of the car.

evaporator blower removal

FYI: If you are removing the whole evaporator housing remember to take passenger side floor board out and remove the resister pack (I think it's called) or you won't be able to pull the evaporator out of the smugglers box. The resister pack has 4 screws holding onto the floor. Once you remove this you will be able to pull the evaporator out with no problem.
