3.6 Conversion and Wiring of Alternator

I'm interested in knowing how folks with previous conversions integrated their car's alternator light on the oil pressure/oil temperature gauge. My car is a 72 with the regulator separately mounted from the alternator. I'm using the 72 gauges to the extent possible. I'm also installing a 94 964 motor. My questions are as follows:

1. Did you essentially wire the alternator light between pin 15 on the ignition switch and D+ on the 964 alternator?

2. Was there enough current through the field winding of the alternator to illuminate the alternator light when starting the motor?

3. Did you have to put a resistor in parallel with the alternator light to get the light to illuminate? If so, what was the ohmic value and wattage of the resistor?

Thanks
