According to the Bentley Manual there is not a single ground conductor, there are 5 (pins 5,10,16,17,19) and the ground point for these is the ground post on the #1 intake runner in the engine compartment. Sorry no picture, but you can't miss it if you take a look.

+1 Unless you have removed your aux fan you'll have to peek around the duct work on the left side of the engine. -J

Is there a ground closer to the DME where as to kill the power to the DME?

An alternate plan is to kill (open) the source wire to the DME with a switch.

Yes.
Source = hot wire = 12VDC

Consult a wiring diagram to be sure it's the correct one.

power comes in on pins 18, 20, & 35 from the DME relay.

Kill the relay, kill the DME.

Buy a Bentley, now.

The Bentley has lots of wiring diagram issues for the C3.2 beware.

The worst discrepancy is the crank bolt torque. I nearly chunked my crank pulley because I used the torque spec given and it was 50% under torqued.

Crank bolt torque has zero to do with DME I/O, but I think here is a point made there.
Best to verify against the 3.2 Bosch schematics like I did - and verify torques elsewhere (when that subject comes up).
PM me if you need schematics so you can verify yourself.
Watch out too for good info instead of vague warnings.

Thanks I'll pull my seat tomorrow and look for the brown wire going to the DME.

I would hazard a guess that disconnecting the ground when running would have a chance of damaging the DME.

If you want to kill the car put a disconnect on the crank sensor. It will stop sparking immediately.
To disable the car pulling one of them slightly loose works great.
