What are the largest Engine and Tranny can you install into SWB

Hey Guys,

What are the largest Engine and Tranny can you install into SWB without modifying anything.

I know even 3.6 with G50 were installed into SWB tub, but this I guess were requiring to modify tube, rear seats, etc.

If you have pics, please.

Thank you.
-Y.

A G50 will not go in without serious alterations to the rear torsion tube.

Any upgrade involving the engine or trans will require "modifications".

A friend of mine has a '68 with a Euro 3.0 and a 915. A really sweet ride.
For his car mods, maybe alterations is a better term, to the fuel system, ignition, wiring, clutch, instruments, and axles were required.

You can put in pretty much anything you want... it's all a matter of how much you want to spend.

Check out this video. It will give you some idea about putting a big engine into an older Porsche:

I would think a 3.6 with shortened G50 would "fit" but the axle locations and flanges may be an issue... A spiced up 3.0 litre with 915 would be plenty of power in that car!

He's a member of PCASDR and is tough to beat at Qualcomm. Its a '68 with a Euro SC motor with headers and a sport muffler. About 200 RWHP.

I bet YOU could make that work Dan! Considering he is an electric car salesman I would think anything that will go more than 25 miles before requiring a refuel would be an improvement...

I am not a salesman and my car can make 70 miles on 1 charge( $.50 cents), just facts...

Plus, it can outrun almost every gasoline car from the stand still... it feels like you on the take-off

I remember seeing a porsche with a Merlin V12 once.
I'm not sure the MPG was good...but it certainly got my attention!

Don't use first gear and keep the burnouts to a minimum. I had two 914/8s....kick in the ass.

Talk to Renegade Hybrids in Las Vegas. They've done every combo known to mankind on V8-Porsche conversions.

Of course every swinging concour weenie wanker will give you the schizzle.....but it's YOUR ride. Screw 'em.....
