Oooops... Did I booger my T-bar adjusters?

LOL, Hi!

Way back when... I noticed the front T-bar adjustment screws were very difficult to loosen soooo... I tapped them and now of course they thread in by hand. I'm thinking maybe they were tight for a reason. Anyone care to steer me in the right direction?

Please be nice.

Derek

I chased the threads on mine too. After that, VFC in Chicago corner balanced it. There might be thread lock on there. Would be inserted in what others think.

there is typically a factory threadlock that's blue.

So you are saying that you ran a tap though the threaded bore that the adjuster screws go in? If so, you've likely hogged out/damaged the existing threads. Or if you mean that you ran a die down the screws, then you hogged those out and likely need to get new ones . . .

The adjuster screws on my 911 front TB's have always been loose enough to thread in by hand when the load is off, always have been. Never had an issue with them changing settings, never used lock anything. When the load is on its tough to adjust them with an allen key so IMO the pressure of the weight of the car keeps them locked up well enough. Now if it was a rally car and the front was seeing airtime just maybe.

+1 on what Porboy says - mine have always been easy to turn by hand when the load is off, I wouldn't worry about it unless they are so loose you think they will strip the threads. You didn't use too big of tap did you?

Sounds like I'm okay here... screw just threads in like any normal bolt. I had to put them in a vice to remove the bolts so perhaps there was thread lock in there and I simply cleaned it out by chasing the threads. Thanks a bunch guys, I knew I could count on you.

If you are concerned, just use some threadlock again.
