Question First Time this has happened- advisce?

So I was just driving home yesterday, taking it easy, not drivng hard at all, and there was a overwhelmingly strong smell coming from the car. It's a 79 911SC and that stinky clutch smell that I'd gotten a couple times when I dumped the clutch too hard. That was the smell I was experiencing on the drive home-the whole way.
What the heck would cause that?
Today I did not really notice it too bad. Today is a pretty cool day here in Denver, yesterday it was quite a bit warmer.

Could it be that the clutch is going out? it's been 7 years since the rebuild of the tranny. I'm not noticing any slipping though...?? thoughts?

The rubber centered clutch discs only came on the 87-89 G50 cars if i'm not mistaking ...
Check your wheels and see if one is way hotter than the other, you may have a sticking/dragging brake issue !

Cheers

My 79 SC came with a rubber centered clutch that went out after a couple of years. It is my understanding that the steel springs were introduced with the later Carreras.

My bet is parking brake or a sticking caliper. Like someone else said, after a drive you need to walk around and feel each wheel so see if one is significantly hotter than the others. Or take a sniff.
Rubber centered clutch has nothing to do with "slip". You'll either have an extremely jumpy/bouncy jerk in the driveline if the disc is partially gone (happened to me) or no go at all if it fails.

My rubber centered disc exploded on track two years ago with no warning, i was under the impression that they only came with the G50 cars to dampen vibration ... my bad !!!

Great info people, thanks! I'm goping to go drive it now and do the wheel heat check. Could very well be a sticky caliper as i do feel some noticable pull at the stop lights now. I'll be back...

double check the required spacing on the clutch release arm/clutch cable adjustment.
