Scan tool help: what are you all using to reset service reminder on newer porsches...

I am seeking info on what scanners are being used that can reset service reminders on later 911 modesl = 1990 and on 911's, 996, 997... all boxsters...ect...and also do overall system checks & trouble fault code reporting...does not have to be able to scan 2011 and newer cars...
I am somewhat familuar with the Durametrics offering from reading about them from our host and such, BUT, I would prefer to buy a device that DOES NOT require a lap top computer = the tool comes w/ software obviously & a hand held box that has an adequate screen to see the info, prompts, can clear & reset codes, ect...AND I do not want to spend a sm fortune for such a device...
I realize this sounds like a lot to ask, but I am hoping not...

You are asking a lot. The Durametrics is the only tool I know of at the moment and it does cost a tiny fortune.

thx yelcab1...I hope I am not asking too much...I am trying to find a reasonably priced solution W/O having to drag around an cumbersome lap top computer and all of the power cables & crap...the ~8oo for the dura s/ware is ok if i have to but to add a lap top of ~ 3-4oo makes it too much $$...
my mac tool guy is checking if his resets serv reminder...
snapper offerings do not reset serv...

I know, but a lap top is actually pretty cheap. Secondly, almost everybody has one now. I still think $800 is a lot for a reset but ... we live in the world of electronics and a Porsche is something that is expensive to maintain.

By the way, compared to Porsche, a Ferrari "anything" is about twice as expensive.

i guess i have to go to best buy & staples to check out lap tops...can you recommend a durable & "cost effective" LT to check out...?? thx for your help here... :-)
maybe mac will surprise me w/ a cost effective solution...yBob

The Durametric is pricy, but its not $800. More like $675, for your needs. But if you really only need to reset service lights and read codes just get the enthusiast kit for $300. Also, they come up for sale on the classifieds every now and then on various Pcar boards. If you do your own oil changes it will pay for itsself in a few oil changes.

You need a PC to run the software. My old laptop runs it just fine.

FYI...I checked out the 928-ecu product and it does not cover boxster or 996/997 cars...only 993 and earlier porsche cars...
I am going to look at lap tops...& going to mac tool guy tonite as he says he has something to cover it all...sounds too good to be true...I'll report back to get your all opinion on what he says...
