when I saw this picture, it immediately struck me, that a "PORSCHE" sidedecal was missing.
Go for it http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1376529188.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1376554845.jpg |
Lovely car. Keep as is.

No stripes ,it`s great now any more would be too busy, you already have transfers on the front guards and rear windows as well as the oil cooling lines showing their values, less is more, Great car by the way, Only My Opinion. In the end you have to live with it and enjoy it. Regards Brett L

Despite historic significance, I see stripes the same way I see any garish windshield banner or other large sticker on a car, Porsche or otherwise. I like it the way it is, clean, simple, understated.

I do have a stripe on the duck. It doesn't go over the roof.
To me it was just enough to bring the lines back in line. The duck disturbed the flow and the stripe brought it back. If I did do the side stripe it would be the same silver, but I'd hate to mess up whatever look is going on right now. (The tail and roll cage says "its not that kind of Porsche.") But It would be really easy to go from tasteful to garish. Some would say garish already, but I love it so far and wonder if I want more. But I know I don't want the tail strips to extend. The side strips? I really don't know. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1376565138.jpg |
If you do go for a side stripe, i think you'd have to ditch the gulf sticker. If you do I would go for a ghosted stripe, in a dark grey, and match the stripes on the duck to it. Like the car as is as well though.

Did you need a Porsche? no but you wanted one and got one.
Do you need a stripe? if you want one get one:) BTW I don't mind the the "PORSCHE" in the white in the pic |
No graphics. If you think it needs something...Add horsepower.

No stripe. It looks great as is.

If you do go for a stripe, do a Porsche stripe matching the tail stripes. More in keeping with the classic look you got going on.

nice thing about decals: you can just tare them off when fed up.
and hey: there a more dumb ways to waste money...? |

I'm kind of partial to the side stripe.....sorry, couldn't resist.

If you do the side stripe go "PORSCHE" and like the photo below, add the line around the front and rear bumpers. The car below looks great.

Thanks to everyone for their comments and ideas.
I'm undecided but here is an important observation that I have made as I think about this: Unlike almost any other color car, on a black car it seems really easy to make the look all about the stripe instead of about the car (with a stripe just providing a bit of accent colour - love a black strip on a bright green car for example). I think that is why so many prefer ghosted etc. on black. I tried the bumper stripe and to me the car immediately told me to take it off. Too much silver and lines all in one area of the car. Still undecided about the side though http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1376602103.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1376565138.jpg |
The bumper stripes 'only' work when you have the side scripts, and having the side scripts means ou really should have the bumper stripes.
The bumper stripes are there to remind you of the aluminum/rubber bumper strips that the factory installed. |
I agree. The bumper stripe was a test before doing the whole side.
If I only look at the rear quarter (ignoring the side of the car, I didn't like how the bumper stripe competed with the tail. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1376602103.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1376565138.jpg[/QUOTE] |
