| Registered | Converting Wife to RS Spec
Hello All, I just got married and am trying to convert her from 911T (more like Honda Accord) spec to 911 RS Carrera. Seriously, has anyone been able to get their significant other interested in cars or motorsport. It's not that she prevents me from doing things but she just thinks cars are only a means of transportation (yes even mine). Thanks for the help. ------------------ Clay Wilson 93 C2 Cabriolet

Wow even with a C2 Cabriolet she isn't into it!!!! Some are into it and some are not. You need to find out if she is borderline and you may be able to pesuade her to try. My wife had no interest in cars before she met me. She had never spent more than $1,000 on a car. She does have an interest in it. When we talk Porsche I try to talk about the classics. She wants a 356 now. I guess you should try to find some thread that you can start to build on. Just make sure you don't drown her with it. Good luck.

Take her to an autocross and let her ride with you for a couple of runs. I do that with all my girlfriends, they love it!

Join your local PCGB and take her to the Social events sponsored by the club. She will see the other side that Porsche ownership has to offer and hopefully get more involved. ------------------

How many girlfriends can you squeeze into an autocross car? Must get cozy on a 180. They must be very accomodating. :-) It's nice to have these intentionally silly threads once in a while (versus the silly serious ones). Sherwood Lee

I stand corrected by Island911... After kids or about 35 it does become a whale tail... Maybe just a complete whale depending on particular circumstances!!! LOL

Clay, You should have had this all worked out before you got hitched. That's what the engagement period is for. ------------------ '81 SC Coupe (aka: "Blue Bomber") Canada West Region PCA The Blue Bomber's Website

I got lucky. My wife is totally cool. She is still intimidated by the 911. She spun it pretty hard a few times at a practice. However, she's a demon in the Neon. She was the Southwest Division D Stock Ladies champion in 2000. This year she ran in the open class with me. At one Divisional last year she was leading by .003 seconds on the first day. She was all pumped about that. I just bought her a 91 Nissan 240SX with coil-overs, camber plates, header and racing harness. She loves the harness. She even plays Gran Turismo with me ------------------ Jeff Parker 72t

Be careful what you wish for...My wife wants to drive our C2 all the time. She believes that a proper sports car should have five speeds and a clutch. Oh well... Maybe before long we will be a two 911 family!

If you plan on driving hard, make sure you've got plenty of lubricant-you sure don't want to run dry when you're pulling lots of "G"'s....
