G50 separation from engine - fork shaft - slide hammer

So have my engine and transmission out and would like to now separate them - working from bentley it advises to remove the retainer clip from the shaft and using a slide hammer pull the internal shaft. I bought a slide hammer 5/8 end - what adapter do I need to fit the internal shaft to pull it? Are there other ways to remove?

The cross pin is 6mm inside thread. I use a long 6mm bolt and thread it in, vise grip the head and tap out with a hammer.

A slide hammer with a fork attachment and 90 degree bend will also work. Screw in the M6 bolt, slide the end of the fork over the bolt head, and use the slide hammer on it. Does not take much force. It is a slide fit.

Porsche came up with a modification on this rod and bearings in the late 80's. If it is an early one without the upgrade they can be really tough to get out. I'll try to find the tech bulletin and post it. Get a long 6 mm bolt to use to reassemble, something like 6" long, that makes it easier.

DO NOT get crazy with the slide hammer or the shaft ears in the bellhousing can break off. spray with WD through the hole in the bellhousing and just light little taps until it comes out. it may just slide out anyway.

Does anyone have a pic of this process?

Remove the side retainer, insert a long 6 mm bolt. Vice grip the bolt and tap out the cross pin. Everything comes apart with the cross pin removed.
You will need the brass bearing update kit to replace
