993 Tiptronic reliable ???

Hi guys.

My brother is considering buying a Porsche 911 and there's a 993 that seems a good deal in our area. It's a 1995 993 C2 cabriolet with a tiptronic transmission.

Question is : is there any issue or anything to ask for about the tiptronic trany ?? Is it reliable compare to a standard 5 speed unit ?

Thanks very much.

Nico

Good buddy of mine had one as a daily driver in LA due to traffic, never gave him any trouble in several years. Got stolen out of his driveway one day.

Never going to be as reliable as a standard transmission.
Also I have OT heard terrible issues, but the places I visit are not full of late model tip tonic guys....so you may not get a ton of reliable data...meaning there may be more manual transmission guys here.

very reliable, never had any issues with mine. I have owned several variants. There are other threads on this topic.
