early h/e question. differences between mfi and cis?

Talking about early h/e, will mfi set work on a CIS car? Are there mods needed or just look for another set? The car is a 83sc. Thanks.

The only differences between the two was in 72 and73 the factory added a preheater going into the intake from the rear of the left HB. Refered to as the "street sweeper" as it pulled road junk into the airfilter.
For an 83 you require thick flange where the early product was thin flange. Look for SSIs with the thick flange and O2 sensor probe.

ive heard a ton of people here say get the early h/e so the engine will breath better including waynes performance book but youre saying definately that i can NOT use early H/E with my 83 stock 3.0???

ive also heard about the s/s set too but cost and availability is a lil taller and since a set was offered to me i just wanted to see if i can use them.

You can use them if you add an O2 sensor bung and close off the extra air tube.
You can either replace the studs or add spacers for mounting the thin flange to your motor.
A lot of work for h/e's that will rust unless you're getting them really cheap!
Personally I'd go for the correct SSI's.
They look and fit nicely on my car.
