Two suggestions: 1. Change title to "Chain ramp won't fit" 2. Keep bumping yourself to the first page until John Walker logs back on. He'll know....

Erakad,
I ended up using a narrow block of wood and had it run between the top of the ramp and the back of the case. If I recall, I did the outboard bolt first, then the inner. I tied a piece of string to it in case I dropped it. I'd also recommend using a piece of string thru the bolt hole in the ramp so you do not lose it either ![]() Also DO NOT in any way, shape or form move the chains. Please do not ask how I know this, I still feel the pain...... doh! Best of luck, I know it's frustrating.. cheers -Brad 80SC with new(er) engine |

Like the idea of renaming the post and hoping for the best...frustrating afternoon, definitely on the bottom of my automotive experiences. Finally got the darn ramp on 2 hrs after my original post...one more question on that though....can there/should there be any play in the ramp at all? I noticed out of the car the ramp still had "wiggle" room on the bolt. Could this translate to the installed ramp? Not much movement, but it does move slightly.
Am really trying to be careful and not move the chain from the gear. On the parts I can see, I've wedged wood between the chain and the case, put a cable tie through the gear and chain next to the tensioner, painted marks across the gear and chain to the case and supported the chain well when removing and replacing the lower ramps. I plan on spinning the engine (manually, clockwise) at least 10 times (without sparkplugs) to check for binding....I'm really paranoid after the posts the last couple months! Will probably add more ties tomorrow... But as I said, I'm now concerned about the movement...should I pull it out again and reinstall ![]() Sighhhh....
