Don't have an exact answer to your question..that may be the relay that lets you roll up/down your windows once the ignition key is off/out and you have yet to open the doors. It would be a courtesy relay for your power windows. It has a logic board inside.
Your power windows may work fine with the courtesy relay out. See if the windows work with the key off/out prior to opening the doors with this relay removed. Probably not. The courtesy relay could be leaking voltage and killing your battery overnight, being defective. |

Gee thanks, never knew of it. IIRC the windows stop working once the ign is off. Its prob been kaput for a long time.

My other just told me one can work the windows in her Caravan once the ign is off ad long as the door isn't opened. So that's the relays function. Good news, the bad is that it's 90 bucks.

Yep..pretty pricey relay..they go for $70 used on the bay too. Time to find a junker 944/928/924 and look for relays..it is a 944 part number and probably used in the 911-928-944 and 924 series of cars.
Lots of junker water cooled P cars if you look in most metro areas..you might get a running 944 for the price of the relay ![]() |

One thing to check prior to condemning the relay as faulty.
Do your interior lamp(s) come on when you open the driver's door? If not (or the lamps don't work perfectly)..the logic board in the courtesy relay will stay "live" waiting for you to exit the car. The only way the relay knows to stop being ready to roll up/down the windows is the ground to the door switches when you exit the car. If the courtesy relay stays live..then there is a parasitic draw on the battery giving enough time will diminish to battery's ability to start the car. Do check the door lamp switch contacts in the leading edge of the door jam, under the rubber boot, particularly the drivers door..they get crusty and may not work properly. There may be more than one ground wire behind the door switch too..I don't recall.. Better to check the door lamp ground switches first..then buy a junker 944 for the relay, if you need one. |
