Need a closer photo and to best determine combustion color is to operate the engine warm and perform an engine chop at various RPMs / speeds. Equipped with your spark plug kit drive at a constant speed / RPM then turn off the ignition and roll to a safe stopping point, remove all spark plugs and keep then in the order according to cylinder they were removed from. Closely inspect the ground electrode and insulator.

Make the focus on the plug, and not the pavement.

I added some contrast, sharpened it a little and cropped it to see it better.
Looks like a spark plug thats been driven all around normally on the street around 4 to 5000 miles including idleing at stop lights. It's not too light from running lean and not too dark from running too rich and the electrodes don't look rounded off from eroding away during a lot of mileage. There may be a little oil burning going on but it doesn't look like there's any heavy oil carbon build up on the ground electrode. A person would have to know how long that plug has been running in the motor since it was installed new or freshly cleaned. I think if you removed it after cruising steady speed on the intersate for a little while it would be a lighter tan color. If the motor isn't smoking a lot I'd say it looks OK. ![]() |

thank u for that. 5 of them looked like that and 1 was really white.
is that an indication that the cylinder is running lean?

the one that is really white is more critical than that one.
sounds like you have an air leak on that cyclinder or and injector not delivering enough fuel. careful, dont get too close when taking a photo...
