Sorry if this is the wrong place for an introduction, but I just joined today. Bought a 1984 Slate Blue Metallic sunroof coupe on Friday. Car is in very good mechanical condition but has some cosmetic issues. Runs and drives great.
My buddy owned it for two years so we have already done a few things to get it roadworthy. It sat for at least 5 years before he bought it and he maybe put 500 miles on it. Anyway, just wanted to say hello. I'm sure I'll be asking lots of questions as I dig deeper into the car ![]()

Like the black interior looks great with that color. Leather looks real good condition. Looks like a nice lowered stance. I'm a fan of the wipers parked on the passenger side too.
Welcome! |

Thanks for the warm welcome!
The seats as well as the rest of the interior are not black but some shade of dark blue. Looks similar to BMW's dunkel blau or indigo. Seats are in good shape except for the seams on the driver's side bolsters are splitting and the piping is torn. I hope that can be repaired. Dash is cracked and headliner is torn in the back near the sunroof motor. I mailed the sun visors and steering wheel to the pros this morning to get redone. Eventually all will be restored ![]() Cairo: Good to see a friendly "face". I post as Shadowfax on 914world. Am really bad with usernames haha. Here's some (bad) pics of the seats. ![]() ![]()

Thanks for the compliments on the car
![]() Am anxious to get going on this one. Have many new parts from the PO that are awaiting installation (turbo tie rods, ball joints, Elephant torsion bar bushings, 2-wire CHT, fresh air control panel - I had him buy these and we never got around to installing) and some on the way that I got since Friday (spark plug wires, spark plugs, dist. cap and rotor). Sent the tach off yesterday too -- it worked intermittently and I am terrible with electronics so NHS will handle. Here's my wish list: -Recover dash and replace broken center A/C vent (do headliner and front and rear windshield seals at the same time, possibly replace front windshield too) -The A/C "works" in the car but is not efficient at all. My plan is to either do the Kuehl air by Griffiths or call the RetroAir guys) -Repaint eventually -- the clearcoat has faded on most of the roof and there are a few nicks and chips here and there on the hood -Mentioned the driver's seat in an earlier post. This might get done sooner than the above items just because it drives me nuts thinking about it ![]()

Welcome Pedro!
Regarding the seat - how do you intend to use the car? If not only for getting ice cream then I would recommend a bucket seat (like the Recaro Pole Position). Best upgrade I ever made to my car. You sit very comfortably (even my wife thought so) and you sit planted, making your driving so much more involved. As compared to sliding all over the place, bracing yourself with a knee against the door. Johan
